A series of inquiries to residential PV installers has revealed a tough consolidation phase in Germany’s solar installation market. With an increasing number of installers offering solar arrays at very low prices, competition is intensifying as companies vie for fewer orders.

“Orders are not in short supply, but profitability is,” another installation company executive told pv magazine. For the most part, the company would “discount its services by 20%” in order to secure orders against the competition. “This means we cannot offer our customers adequate service.”
