Woman Asks Millennial Boyfriend for More Date Nights—Not Ready for His Plan

One woman asked her partner for more date nights, but she never expected this.

A video on TikTok posted by Hannah (@hannahxwilkinson) has gone viral after revealing the niche, hilarious date her boyfriend planned for them: A visit to see the Ogretones, a Shrek tribute band, whose Facebook page describes the group as the “UK’s premier musical tribute to the Shrek series.” Since Hannah’s video was posted on July 14, it has received over 1.1 million views and more than 158,000 likes.

“I asked my boyfriend if we could do more date nights and tonight was his turn,” Hannah captioned the video. “As surprise date nights go, this was up there with the best of them.”

In the vlog, Hannah revealed the Shrek-themed drink at the bar—the “ogre ball” cocktail, for £8. She also said that many of the patrons had dressed up as Shrek and other characters, making her feel underdressed.

Clips of the band revealed them also in costume, representing everyone from Shrek, to the Three Blind Mice, to Donkey.

“I always felt like Donkey would have naturally gravitated toward the bass,” Hannah wrote about the bassist with Donkey’s ears.

As the band played their set, Hannah began to rank her superlatives: “Big Bad Wolf won best costume,” she wrote.

The night ended with the Shrek anthem, “I’m a Believer” by Smash Mouth—the song that plays in the final scene of the first film.

People flooded the comments with wishes for their own Ogretones concert, with some even wanting the band there for the biggest day of their lives.

“I want them to sing at my wedding, whenever that is,” @genevievetina wrote.

“How’s it feel to be living my dream,” @olbeluga posted.

“Everything in my life has lead me to this very TikTok where I must now attend this in person for date night,” @mcgeemcfee commented.

It was clear that Hannah’s boyfriend heard the instructions and understood the assignment—even if only for a select audience.

“Shrek is the true patron saint of millennials,” @cece07757 wrote.

“I was so worried this was going to be a video about your boyfriend putting in no effort, and this is so fantastic,” @marlonrandosextape posted.

“This is amazing work,” @beckyyyy_92 commented. “Good luck topping that date night.”

Hannah confirmed the absolute joy of the date: “Not going to lie, one of the best nights I’ve ever had,” she wrote.
